Since I was enrolled in three different AP classes (AP Photography, AP Graphic Design, and AP Drawing and Painting) I had many paths to choose for what I would be able to submit to my AP test. I took this as an initiative to push boundaries that I have not seen pushed before. I primarily used digital techniques through graphic design and photography paired with another skill I have obtained within my digital work, 3D renders. I felt as if I could make something far more interesting and eye catching digitally than doing any physical mediums. This opened up so much opportunity to showcase my theme, "Perspective of Reality". My theme for my AP concentration was "Perspective of Reality", so I decided to take it literally with a panoramic of my room that shows myself in many different situations which all contain different perspectives within time. Each figure has their own feelings, drive, thoughts, and energy. I decided to dive deeper and make a piece for each perspective so you would be able to understand each and everyone's perspective within their time and situation.
I created this piece to show how important physical activity is to your overall health. I have personally found a great correlation between mental and physical health as they rely upon each other. I included the push up into both the main piece and this piece specifically to show the importance of staying healthy and physically fit. I made sure to make there be sort of an abyss behind the figure as the determination of the figure is what I wanted to put light on. I added motion blur as physical activity can feel repetitive and worthless to many after a while, but still worthwhile in the long run. Having a positive outlook goes a long way and a perspective in which you are determined is what I inspire others to share alongside me. Being conflicted within thoughts is often something that comes up when there is too much going on. You never know what other people are going through or experiencing, and some people may not even have a full grasp of things themselves. I chose to perceive this situation with conflicted thoughts on what to do next as being productive, going and having fun, reflecting, and sleeping are all things that are quite appealing and or need to be done to keep moving forward. Making decisions are important and formulate not only your day but you as a person. Making the right decisions is something that I would like people to do for themselves as it seeks the positive aspects of life. Life comes down to a balancing act and in order to juggle life sometimes you need to focus. Sometimes being focused means that you become oblivious to your surroundings. For some, focus is the escape from reality that some people need. This can go as far as getting stuck into one perspective for an elongated period of time, and it affects themselves and the people around them. This piece is to show what it is like being in the zone, but also to show how consuming certain things can be for people, and to reality check the viewer of the piece. I made this to motivate people to not only be determined within their craft but to also keep an eye on their surroundings and to be cognizant of what is going on around them. (Shot on Sony a6300 55-210mm f/4.5) (Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic, Photoshop) [2024]
This piece was made to show how important relaxation and breaks are throughout the day. Breaking up the cycle of work and rest is essential, and sometimes more efficient for getting more done. Although breaks are often taken advantage of as they become counterproductive for many. As shown in the piece there is an exaggeration of the screen symbolizing the absorption of attention that is more common in this day and age with technology. I like to combat this situation by taking productive breaks and using technology to my advantage to look for inspiration or learn how to do something so I am ready when I come back to work. Having self control yourself allows you to get more done and in the long run get more rest at the end of the day. Getting rest is very important and so is reflecting your own thoughts and feelings as it helps you grow and understand you and your surroundings. Getting away from what you encounter in your day to day life is crucial, especially from screens as many of us have become accustomed to. Not everything is going to make sense or will you understand everything in life as this is why I put the figure into a glitched and undefined bed with clear spots to see reality. This leaves many things in life up for interpretation and I believe everyone should look at life with an open mind and look at different perspectives. Interactive web design for showcasing in-depth look into art at the senior art show. Developed for the bottom screen of my laptop as the animation below was displayed on the top screen. (Designed in Adobe XD) [2024]
This is the second part of my AP Concentration which I decided to make an animation showcasing different realities and perspectives in which are open to interpretation to the viewer. The intended interpretations are as seen below with stills from the animation. (Modeled/sculpted, lit, textured, animated, and rendered in Blender | Cycles render engine | Composed in Adobe After Effects | Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects) [2024]
This still from the animation is to exemplify glorification, especially in an objectual manner. People place much value in things and put them on a pedestal, but the question needs to be asked if it matters at the end of the day. This is both metaphorically and literally bringing light to a specific perspective indirectly through the conceptual diamond(s) being glorified by the lights. (Modeled, lit, textured, animated, and rendered in Blender | Cycles render engine | Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic) [2024]
The theatre chairs still from the animation represents being the only one, and the last one to leave the theatre. It shows curiosity, engagement, and interest. Being the last one to leave the theatre shows that you have an underlying appreciation for the environment and the creation being displayed. (Modeled, lit, textured, animated, and rendered in Blender | Cycles render engine | Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic) [2024]
On the flip side in comparison to the last piece is an empty theatre all but one (if you notice the figure) and how work can be underappreciated and or not known about. Each seat represents where someone could be sitting and viewing content, but they lie bodyless. This situation can be seen as neglection, room for growth, or even undervalued. It is all up to your open interpretation and perspective on reality. (Modeled, lit, textured, animated, and rendered in Blender | Cycles render engine | Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic) [2024]
The spaceship hyper speed still from the animation is supposed to symbolize how fast reality can go and how lost one can get within it. This section of the animation goes on for just a little too long to symbolize getting lost in reality because everything morphs into a repeating motion. This is why this gets transitioned out of in the reflection of someone's eye in the animation. (Modeled, lit, textured, animated, and rendered in Blender | Cycles render engine | Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic) [2024]
Similarly the last one ties directly into this still of the figure being absorbed by the media in an empty city environment. We all are aware of are general surroundings, but the only thing clear to us is the screen we are looking at when interacting with technology most times. This still embodies exactly that with no one around except for the figure. This is supposed to be satirical and abstract to remind people to take a step back and look at what's around and snap out of it from time to time. (Modeled, lit, textured, animated, and rendered in Blender | Cycles render engine | Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic) [2024]
Contrary to the previous piece, this shows the perspective of the city, and what the figure looks like when the screen is taken away and how out of place things seem. Many things just feel off about the environment, there is no cars, no people, abstract out of place art and benches, its just about as unsettling as one should be when they are detached from reality. (Modeled, lit, textured, animated, and rendered in Blender | Cycles render engine | Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic) [2024]
This is a contact sheet of the whole animation giving a breakdown in a one page view. It is similar to a storyboard but with the finished product. I did not do a breakdown on techniques used to achieve everything in this animation, but if this is something that interest many, please reach out to me and I will be happy to break it all down in a video.
This was the animation used on screen inside the other animation and used as a transition between realities. Nothing shows a different perspective than an abstract approach. (Modeled, lit, textured, animated, and rendered in Blender | Cycles render engine | Composed in Adobe After Effects) [2024]
